Adoption Process
The first step in our process is for an applicant to fill out our Adoption Application form. They can do that on our web site at: www.pawshancock.org
Once we've reviewed the application we will be back in touch with the applicant, usually within 48 hours at the most. If we are able to pre-approve the applicant, they will get an e-mail with information on how to contact the animals foster home for more information or to schedule a meeting with the pet. If all goes well at that meeting, they will be able to take the pet home with them. All adopters are required to sign an Adoption Agreement. The Adoption Agreement provides, among other things, that the adopter has 15 days from the date of the adoption to return the pet to P.A.W.S. and receive a full refund of the adoption fee. The Agreement also requires that the pet be returned to P.A.W.S. if at any time in the future the adopter no longer wants or is no longer able to care for the pet.
