Adoption Process

Our adoption fee is $85.00 for domestic animals (dog/cats) and includes: Microchipping Spay/Neuter 30 days of ShelterCare Gift Insurance At least one round of vaccinations Rabies Vaccination & at least one round of treatment for deworming All animals MUST be spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter. We will make exceptions for young animals who may be taken home and scheduled for spay/neuter when they turn 8 weeks old or weigh two pounds, whichever comes first. Our spay/neuter surgeries are performed by the talented staff at the Humane Alliance in Asheville, NC. **Exceptions are** Adoptions outside of Madison County, purebreds, and/or bully breeds. These exceptions will NEVER leave the shelter without being spayed/neutered FIRST, no matter the age of the animal, it must stay until it is fixed. At times we take in small mammals, birds, or farm animals. Adoption fees will be based accordingly, depending on the animal and if any vet bills have been incurred.
