The Humane Society of Escambia County

The HSEC mission is to decrease euthanasia via spaying and neutering, public education, and increased responsibility of pet guardians for all areas of pet guardianship including health, behavior, and containment. While enforcement is a necessary part of our jobs, we much prefer working cooperatively with our community to make life more joyful for residents and animals alike. Pet protection is people protection.

Adoption Process

We have a short application and interview process. Our goal is to make the best match possible for each and every adoption that we do. Some adoptions can be fully completed and the new pet can go home with their new family the same day. Some adoptions can only be partially completed and the new owner must return to pick up their new pet at a later date. All adoptions include vaccinations, microchip, and spay or neuter.

Please note: After submitting an adoption application, we recommend that you follow-up with the shelter to ensure they have received your adoption application from Petango. The shelter’s contact information can be found in the left hand column. Thank you.
