The mission of the Pioneer Humane Society, a non-profit 501(3)c organization, is to promote and provide humane treatment of animals through education and fostering/sheltering/adopting homeless animals. Its programs and services are administered through PAWS (Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter). PAWS serves the community by reducing pet population through spay/neuter programs and maintains a commitment not to euthanize healthy adoptable animals.

Adoption Process

All animals adopted are spayed and neutered and will be current on shots. As a Humane Society, it is our policy to help fight pet overpopulation by only adopting out altered animals. Adoption is easy. We have a two-page application for you to fill out, we interview you, and have you meet the animal upfront. Once we know it is a good match, we congratulate you on being a proud new owner. We do ask a fee for adoption of our animals. This fee helps us recoup spay/neuter cost, shots, worming, food and shelter costs.

Please note: After submitting an adoption application, we recommend that you follow-up with the shelter to ensure they have received your adoption application from Petango. The shelter’s contact information can be found in the left hand column. Thank you.
