Pink's Foster Mom here. Pink is one of the easiest foster Danes I have had and I can't believe she isn't adopted yet! It took a little while for me to get use to Pink's deafness and her following me from room to room, but other than that she is a dream of a Dane. I was nervous about fostering a deaf Dane but the only thing I have really changed is remembering to "wake" her up when I leave a room.
Pink is extremely soft and loves to be brushed. She doesn't mind ear cleanings either, but the toe nails are another matter. It's easiest to go to the vet and have them clip her nails instead!
Pink walks perfectly on a gentle leader and "pushes" her face into it. She will lunge/bark if something catches her off-guard. I would to if I didn't hear a bicycle or see a dog. You can quickly calm Pink down by stroking her throat though. Pink doesn't require a lot of exercise and a quick 30 minute walk most of the days will be sufficient.
People - Pink has done well with all types of people from infants to adults. She just wants to be near you and will keep your feet cold on a cold winter night!
Pink is currently kenneled while I'm gone as she is counter surfer...not only for food, but for clean pots/pans and canisters. She willingly goes into her kennel and sleeps well.
Other dogs: Pink has done well with the "foster-sitting" of other dogs after a day or so as she needs time to adjust to them.
Pink must go to a home with a fenced in yard due to her deafness and somebody who is willing to learn hand signals.

Hi, I've been in my new foster home for just a little over a week now. My previous foster home made the heart wrenching decision to move me to a different home to work on some of my "stressors". I could tell it was a hard for my foster Mom to let me go, but all Mom & Dad's do hard things for their fur-kids. Some of my stressors are new environments (stores, dog parks) and other dogs. I snap at other dogs when stressed. I know it isn't good, but I promise I'm going to work on it!
I liked my new foster home and LOVE being an only dog! Who wouldn't like getting all of the attention, not having to "share" dog beds or couches with other dogs? My new foster Mom isn't use to having a dog following her from room to room or having a dog who doesn't hear, but she is adapting too. We have been going for walks and I'm learning how not to pull on the leash. I do well with a gentle leader, but I'm learning to walk with a regular collar.
I went to the vet this week to get my heartworm medication and nails trimmed. I did really well except when it came time for the nail trim. I don't like having my nails trimmed, but when it was over I forgot about it and just loved the attention everyone was giving me!
Hopefully in time, I will get better with new environments so I'll be able to go to some of the events, but for now I'm going to bask in being the only child!
