Pet Memo
07/11
Abbie is adjusting very well in her foster home. She hasn't had an accident in the house in weeks. She's gained 10 lbs and now weighs 60 lbs. She's not likely to be a very big girl, but she doesn't let her size stop her. She is extremely affectionate and loving to all that come in contact with her. She does love to play with all of the other bigger dogs. She enjoys being around people and prefers to sleep with the other Danes on a doggie bed instead of her crate. She doesn't mind eating in her crate or being in there with a food filled toy. She's up to date on her immunizations and she will be spayed on 7/14. Once she is spayed she will be ready to go to her forever home. Isn't there someone willing to share their life with this loving, special girl?

Abbie is a 5 month old special needs Great Dane puppy that had never been in a home prior to coming into rescue. She is deaf, but may hear some pitches, although likely very little. She is also vision impaired but is able to see and is learning hand commands. She has learned quickly how to use a doggie door and is doing well on her housebreaking.
Abbie loves to be indoors and may need some coaxing when you want her to go outside when she does not want to. She hates her crate at night but does well being in it during the day. She prefers to be left out and sleep by others on a dog bed. She is given food related activities to keep her busy during the day when in her crate. She loves peanut butter in a Kong and she is trained to eat in her crate with a raised bowl that attaches to the crate wall. She loves to play with other dogs and is currently in a home with 3 other dogs; 2 big Danes, and one smaller lab mix.
She is still very much a puppy and needs guidance, training as well as house manners.
She hates a spray bottle and responds well to positive reinforcement. She is extremely sweet, affectionate and LOVES every human she meets. She loves to have her back massaged/rubbed but needs some reinforcement when wanting to play with humans as she would another dog, nipping at legs and arms to play. Since she is deaf and vision impaired she will need to be adopted into a home with experience with Danes and especially ones with hearing/vision impairment. She can be pretty rough and tumble so I would not recommend her going to a home with small children. She will not be adopted until she is spayed which will be sometime in July. Her immunizations will also be completed at that time. She is a very loving girl who will be a great companion to the right home.
