**PERCY IS CURRENTLY BEING HOMED IN THE DENVER, CO METRO...DUE TO PERCY'S SPECIFIC NEEDS IN A FOREVER HOME WE ARE REQUESTING HE ONLY BE ADOPTED WITHIN A 2HR DISTANCE OF THE DENVER, CO METRO**

See that sweet boy up there, that's me Percy...I was found running at large in rural IA and just happened to wander into a Basset lovers yard. They immediately found me a safe spot to spend a few days and called Basset Rescue and here I am looking for my forever home. I am what my foster Dad calls a "clown of a hound"....I am still young and clumsy but LOVE having fun!! I have a some great hound sister's & brother's in my foster home and yep I can keep up with the big dogs...we do nothing but PLAY PLAY PLAY. So rescue is kindly requesting I go to a home with another dog, I really need that playmate. Oh now don't get me wrong, I too am a real lover when I want to be. But like any stubborn headed hound I have to get love on my own terms, I'm not really one of those "all up in my face kissy" kind of men! I also tend to want to have things be my way...it's something Dad says I really have to work on but most importantly I have to have a family that understands my unique needs for a very stable firm owner. My family has to be understanding of my needs for guidance, acceptance & not let me get away with having things my way. Because of this rescue is kindly asking I go to a home with experience in owning a stubborn headed hound & a home that feels comfortable enforcing some rules. Like any great hound my age I am crate trained & this is where I need to be during feeding time, it just helps keep everything in balance & assures me I have a safe spot to eat my food. I also am completely house trained! Rescue is also kindly requesting I do not go to a home with children, as when I am startled out of my sleep it scares me and I can get a tad snippy. Rescue also has to absolutely require that I go to a home with a privacy fenced in yard. See I was adopted once & that home had a fence where I can see those kids walking to school and even though I only want to play with them I can get a bit lippy with excitement & it tends to scare the kids. I never hurt them of course but they scare the begeezes out of me =( I am UTD on all vaccinations, Heartworm tested negative & on monthly prevenative, de-flead, de-wormed, microchipped & altered.

Adoption Information:
Please remember Every animal for adoption through an Hounds Haven is fully vetted for their age and only needs routine preventive care. Dogs older then 6 months of age are heartworm tested! All dogs are kept on heartworm preventative. Every hound is vaccinated (age appropriate), and de-wormed,microchipped in addition to being spayed/neutered.

We are asking for interested parties to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire prior to us lining up an appointment for them to see the hound(s) at the hound(s)' home.

**The age of many HHBR dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record.

***HHBR's adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog. Individual adoption fees are shown with each dog's listing.

PERCY is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

Shelter Information

Hounds Haven Basset Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-for profit all volunteer run rescue organization. We are located in IA and rescue Basset Hounds in need through out the states of Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska (other states too occassionaly). We are NOT a shelter and list our Basset friends in need as a public service. All hounds reside in either temporary homes, shelters or with thier current owners and are seen by appointment with their care providers.
